Hello there! Welcome to Bubbly Books.
We create stories that add joy to a child's life.

Established in 2011, Bubbly Books is a boutique publisher specialising in children's literature. We carve out a niche for ourselves, creating Asian-based content to entertain and educate kids. We hope that our books will instil a love for reading at an early age and (fingers-crossed) add to the flourishing literary scene in Singapore.

Also,

  • We’re self-confessed bookworms.
Nerds if you will. And proud of it.

  • We believe reading’s good for the soul.
    And your vocabulary.

  • We want to pass on the love for reading to young, impressionable minds.

  • We hope to eradicate bad English though we’re still figuring out how.

  • We have absolute faith that even with the Kindles, Nooks and iPads, there’ll still be a place for books.

  • One last thing, A is not an alphabet. Neither is O or M. Go google why.

We work with Singapore's up and coming writers who share our vision to create unique stories for children. If you've got a story idea to pitch, we'll be more than happy to hear from you.

  • ELIZA TEOH

Eliza is a Singapore Press Holding Scholar. She worked at The Straits Times as a journalist covering politics and foreign affairs (which really wasn't that fun). She later became an executive sub-editor at Today newspaper (which was quite fun because she got to boss some people around). She abandoned her journalism career to brave the unpredictable, but happy life as an author of children's books (which is very, very fun).

The character Ellie Belly is inspired by her rambunctious and irrepressible daughter Ellie. In real life, Eliza is also mom to Gabby (who shares her clothes) and shares her home with two adopted pets (who also appear in books):Taffy, a brown rabbit who loves raisins, and Snowy, an extremely clever, but greedy white terrier.

Eliza was very much like Ellie Belly growing up, only clumsier, noisier and more destructive. Thankfully, she is now less noisy and destructive - but unfortunately, still very clumsy.

  • CALINE TAN

Caline devoted 10 years to teaching with Singapore's Ministry of Education. She has since left to take on a full-time and impossibly busy job as a mom to her two children.

She looks forward to bedtimes because she can
    a) finally get some peace and quiet and
    b) invent stories with impromptu soft toy props.

Some of these story ideas eventually made their way into the Robozonic series.

Caline wishes to stay connected with young children through her writing. An ardent fan of thrillers and mysteries, she hopes kids will find the same thrill in Robozonic and Mabel's adventures.

  • JESSICA ALEJANDRO

Jessica's debut novel The Singapore Kid won the Popular Readers' Choice Awards
in 2011 and was shortlisted for the Hedwig Anuar Children's Book Award in 2011. In the Extraordinary Losers series, she touches on things closest to her heart: friendship, courage, the inner person, and of course, donuts and chips!

Jessica also loves listening to children's babble because their thoughts are hilarious - and filled with profound truths.

When she's not busy dreaming up stories, Jessica gives private English lessons. She has also written six English Model Composition books for primary school children.

  • RADHIKA PURI

Radhika Puri is a former business journalist.
While working in India, she won the World Press Institute Media Fellowship. This gave her the chance to explore the United States alongside other international journalists, and better understand the country. In 2002, she won the Polestar award, an Indian award for excellence in journalism, for her coverage of the Internet phenomenon that year.

Radhika moved to Indonesia with her husband in 2005. There, she dabbled in some writing, but spent more time enjoying the country’s beauty. In 2007, she moved to Singapore and nowworks at the Institute of Water Policy at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy as a research associate.

She first started writing stories for her daughter and now hopes to write many more.
